United Methodist Women

Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The Hawesville United Methodist Women share in the purpose by meeting monthly, working to expand the ministries of the Hawesville UMC.

Our meetings, the second Thursday of each month, host a special devotional and business meeting followed by a wonderful fellowship time as we share with each other, along with a time of learning about the missions around the world and what people are doing to share the gospel and their work enhancing the lives of those in need.  We encourage our sisters to continue learning about the works of other missions though a reading program outside of our meetings.

At special times during the year we meet with “Sister Chapters” from other local United Methodist churches giving us another opportunity to learn and enjoy what others sisters in Christ are doing.

We are thankful to be able to help support Patrick Wallace and Sara Smith as they work to share the word of God through their ministries.  We also raise money for UNICEF and have been able to contribute money to Haiti though the United Methodist Church’s disaster funds.  We provide a meal for students of Kentucky Wesleyan College during finals.  Inside our church doors, we are committed to assisting specific projects and programs.  Over the past couple of years we have been thankful to donate over $5,000 to further God’s ministries outside our doors along with special projects of our local church.

Special events we host each year include a banquet for our graduating seniors and their parents along with hosting our “Sister” dinner.  We host an annual bazaar raising money to further our efforts in missions.  Our bazaar is held during the annual Hawesville Christmas parade adding a benefit to the community with home cooked soups, sandwiches and desserts and giving them the opportunity to purchase homemade crafts, baked goods and other fun items.

We welcome any and all women to join us in our mission as we work to enhance God’s world.

For more information or to assist in any of our special programs please contact any of our officers.
