Creative Ministries – Creative Studies
Sunday evening 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
FLAME has two groups, Creative Ministries and Creative Studies, giving everyone the opportunity to learn, serve, and minister through a variety of avenues chosen by the students and guided by the adult leaders.
Creative Ministries
What we do…The HUMC Youth FLAME Creative Ministries team has worked on both dance and sign language performances through Christian songs. The students learn, create, and perform these songs various times throughout the year. In the future we plan on adding additional types of performances as our group grows.
How we got started…The HUMC Youth started Creative Ministries about one year ago when some of the students performed at the inauguration of Hawesville’s Mayor with youth groups from Blackford Baptist and Mount Eden Baptist Churches. Since then, creative ministries have taken off and have included performances at the Steamboat Festival, the United Methodist Women Sister Banquet, and several church performances. In December, the Creative Ministries team performed a Christmas program at HUMC morning worship service that included dancing, sign language, and singing performances by 13 students and 1 adult leader.
Where we are going…The Creative Ministries team continues to work on new performances and find ways to broaden our reach. We are always looking for new team members between 6th and 12th grades who find joy in sharing God’s word through the performing arts. In the coming months we plan on having a showcase night at HUMC for both of our FLAME teams and will be working on an Easter performance as well.
